My running theory is that they both fall in love with each other, but through the workings of the evil sis and the jealous duke, the Female MC is ordered to kill the male MC. Instead of letting his wife kill him, he essentially promises to love her always throwing himself on a someone else’s blade and then goes back for the 9th run, where he uses the knight skills he gets when they head to the north to change the Female MC’s fate from being used by her sister.
At least if the author goes with another reincarnation I hope something like this happens.
