About the new base, they discover the hidden city of Alexandria with Shadow who takes down the dragon that was guarding it. So, I would think they’d already have the new base before the girls went off on their own.

I hope this isn’t just a retelling without the delusional protagonist perspective that made the original interesting. But, i suspect they traded depth for… well, nothing.
