I thought about it a bit and I don’t think there were ways to save him besides a deep psychological follow-up. Besides living as a living armor of Theseus, it might have been possible to reincarnate him into a flesh corpse, nearly identical to his past self, but he might have had the same problem that it’s not his own body anymore.

I respect his conviction, as he had ensured a good life for his wife and daughter, and now no longer needed to live, as he couldn’t feel their warmth in what remains of his body. But that’s just speculation on my end; he was a respectable man who only wanted to provide for his family.
