the only thing that could make sense for efficiency… would be describing it as a comparison to the energy of throwing a baseball, if you throw a baseball as hard as you can it is unlikely to kill anybody, BUT if you could put the same amount of energy into a small pellet you would have similar energy to a .38 pistol… the power is the same but focused to cause potentially lethal damage in a very small area

Also I’m 80% convinced that since the teacher called out the MC first, he specially rigged the exam in an attempt to make it impossible to complete for him (and maybe even kill him). He really looks to be petty enough to do it

Well that doesn’t feel very logic… I mean, with very low mana, even if you can control 100% of it without dispersing anything, you’d still end up exhausting all your mana very quickly… I was honestly expecting the MC to attempt to teach him Onmyoujutsu, not to somehow make his spells stronger by using less mana, which is extremely counterintuitive and against common sense. If you use little mana, you lose firepower, right?
And here I was believing that this world could have more than 1 person able to use Onmyoujutsu…
