Ah, now i see the wisdom of him staying in the village. Not only is he evading the really high taxes, but he is also avoiding all the bullshit that is going on in society. Noel is living the innawoods ancap lifestyle.
Now, what would make a nice twist, is if he has shell shock from all the killing he did, and that is why he tries to avoid violence. We also see that the mismanagement of the former heroes is starting to cascade out of control.
