… as someone who has personally undergone surgeries (yes plural), the flippancy and lack of explanation from the nurse about what KIND of surgery he was getting set off alarm bells for me. SHE SUS!!! either she doesn’t know what she’s doing, or she’s up to something, or both!
So far, the story has established that demons are on the back foot overall and sit lower on the power curve than humans. That’s an interesting reversal from most stories, where demons are usually stronger. Knowing this, I find it odd that the rest of the students completed their missions perfectly, without a single hitch—no one even returned with a scratch. Does that mean his team was given an absurdly difficult mission, or does their team just suck?
