That is not how beams have been joined in medieval times. Due to alloys being unreliable, screws not existing, and nails being made by hand (where one nail could take up to 10 minutes to produce by a trained and skilled craftsman)
Beams were joined with joinery. Such joinery was not only made with repairability in mind, but could even last without maintenance over 100 years.
