So his body is unmaimable, as all damage goes to his HP bar instead of his body; if you cut off his shoulder, the only change will be his HP bar, and thus will always be able to keep fighting.
And now, with the sword, even with a depleted HP bar, he’ll still stay alive.

like his body has gotten used to the immortality so he retains immortality even if he in the future loses ownership of the sword
