No, he clearly punched him in the back of the head.
It doesn’t seem like a translation error. I’m guessing they decided to change the events in the comic compared to how it happened in the novel, but forgot to change the dialogue. Seems like whoever is adapting this novel to comic form doesn’t have anyone proofreading this.

I thought it was the drunken master at first, but then I realized, he was not wearing the beggar cloth, so it is not him… I thought how can MC be stronger then him already…
