There has to be some really creative ways to warp, twist these rules for some serious mini-maxing.
I like that they’ve definitely done their research on design, etc, but I wonder how much the author actually knows about the ammunition?
If a Glock in 9mm (most likely, but I forget what specific model he uses), .40 S&W, or .45 ACP isn’t working, swapping to a Vz. 61 (Skorpion) in .32 ACP (a smaller, less powerful round) isn’t gonna do much more than increase Daisuke’s rate of fire drastically. Now, if he’d gone for a P90 in 5.7x28mm, he would’ve at least had a bit more oomph, but even that round’s armor penetration is more limited to soft body armor–control and handling would’ve suffered, though.
Revolvers are definitely a way to go, but I’m not sure why the author stopped at .44 Magnum, except for the memes; while the celebrated .44 Mag is definitely an effective round, it’s steel penetration potential is still fairly limited. A .454 Casull, .460 or .500 S&W Magnum would have made more sense, but those would be extremely difficult to fire one-handed; Magnum Research’s BFR seriea would also be near impossible to control with one hand. Alternatively, they could’ve gone full Kiritsugu with a rifle caliber handgun like the T/C Contender or Encore, but then you’re limited to one shot.
So, what to use then? Very simple! Let’s take a page from Hideo Kojima and dig out the AKS-74U, chambered in 5.45x39mm; the Krinkov or “Krink” is a full-on short rifle with a folding stock that could potentially be fired semi-accurately in one hand. Couple this with some nice armor-penetrating 7N39, or even 7N10 ammo, and Zol’s toast.

Cheap gun lore sucks….. the pistol calibers should bounce off, only the rifle stuff should work well, but some AP rounds would tear im up. Hell uranium tipped rifle rounds could be made…..
The amour should be a type of reactive energy armor that can regenerate, IE its like lite vehicle armor rather than thinner wearable plate armor. So normal rifle rounds will crack it but not really penetrate it, AP rounds tho.
Also he could summon single shot 50 call pistols, but frankly those would be around normal rifle power. Since its the pressure in a longer rifle barrel that grants rifles more range and damage. 
I would have gone with a .50, but…that will do, I guess. The .50 might break his wrists. (looks down at small girl noodle arms) hmm. Mine too, if I never actually got exercise.
