I had familly who owned a sawmill; back then I learned heard that trunks from all kinds of trees need to dry several years… (not months with some 2 or 3 years)
So the writer or translator had the general idea, but not the correct facts.
The reason for that is that wood need to dry evenly before it can be used, otherwise whatever is made from it would warp and/or crack while drying after being used.
