Spoiling a kid who you know has had a rough life isn’t inherently bad, so long as you teach them right from wrong and put your foot down when and where it’s necessary. Getting involved with them and helping them come to terms with their past is easier said than done for sure, but putting up a barrier and pretending and expecting everything to be all fine and dandy is just wishful thinking
