I have a theory: the princess with blindfold had the bowstring, so she could be the one to bring the prosperity and they didn’t mention the blind princess’ origins, did they? 
MC saw you doing jack, so he took her back. In the place of MC, I would’ve quintupled down just because of the prophesy. If she’s so important, why didn’t you do anything to make her stay comfortable?
If Tanya was your oh-so-important agent of prophesied centuries-long prosperity, you should’ve done more for her stay to be, at least, slightly better than average, or am I taking crazy-pills?
So the prophecy says “400 years of abundance”.
If I would be a king, I would keep object or person or animal that guarantees that abundance very happy and living long life, checking at least weekly how it goes and correcting anything immediately.
That means king dude is also very negligent, letting situation get this far and may not deserve the 400 years of abundance. Or maybe just a weak king who is ordered around by concubines, not that it makes any better.
