Damn it i gotta deal with the death of the brother twice now, once when I read the novel and now in the next 25 chapters 
I think that long reading sessions into the early hours must have got my brain dog-knotted. I thought it was Chae Nayoon’s brother who was in hospital in a coma, and that the mc intends to kill him was the reason that he wouldn’t let himself get close to her… Looks like I’ll have to do some re-read research…
