You’ve got weapon advantage (spear and crossbow vs knives), but engages in spread out fighting in open area.
Small area, like a staircase, door way, small store or toilet to decrease the number advantage, while increasing your spear-advantage is the way.
Crude spears vs flesh isn’t much less deadly than “well made spear” vs flesh, and as long as enough spears. It ain’t problem if they break in the belly
Why are people listening to that manager, while he kills people. Sure, if he was king it’s be understandable, but he ain’t.

Personally, I would’ve assigned one trained combatant to discreetly guard me through the battle.
when the barricade was about to break, I would’ve gave a pre-coordinated signal for every spearmen to leave the wall and assemble a crouching spear phalanx close behind where the barricade would fall. the crossbowmen would fire a synchronized arrow volley over the spearmen and at the blue team.
While that was happening I would’ve hid amidst the crossbow men, while sniping those who seem like the king. I don’t see why he didn’t do that, is that not basic military strategy?
