I’m betting that he can awaken the powers of death if he actually dies and completely turn to the side of darkness, but then he would be unable to utilize anything in the light or any other elemental properties. So definitely something that he doesn’t want to do, but it wouldn’t be the end of the story. He stands on a needles edge and can easily fall in many different ways
