I think the writing here for Naofumi’s character development is contradictory.
At the end of Season 1 he starts rebuilding Raphtalias home town and says its his refuge for them for the future.
He already held the conviction to stay with Raph and Filo and the others as friends/family.
But now he’s saying the same old things he said to himself before that last wave where he beat Glass and Raphtalia woke him up to what he was trully fighting for (for them and the world they inhabit)
So its kinda like 10 steps forward and 20 steps back…..i dont expect him to change his view completely but it feels like he was convienently written in this arc to just revert back to his old habit of thinking???
