He is a sad excuse of a father, even if his skill was translation the mc shouldn’t be discarded for that. I’m sorry but that’s just me.
Absolute Translation would be an immensely powerful tool in any setting. He would be able to understand encryptions and all the data they are intended to hide. He could understand the real meanings behind most legalese and even paintings. We struggle to understand most languages of the world and can barely translate between them. Someone who has a singularity understanding of language would command incredible power.
That man is going to regret his actions, and I will smile as the world crashes down around his head.

He’s such a one dimensional villain, like that last scene would have been massively improved if he had instead said “A child with no magic cannot survive in this household” (much more ambiguous if he cares or not). But I am just writing fan-fiction at this point, and to be fair sometimes it is nice to just have a villain you can hate.
I see nothing but brats wound up inheriting the household.

At least his family didn’t really harm him in any way, just really ignored him. Still bad, but not the worst situation for the mc

MC seems a bit dense. I would either burn all the ancient books or use some space magic (100% sure he has one of those) to take them all with me.No way would i leave them in the house and give them even the slightest chance of stumble upon them after being treated like trash.
