we didn’t see her dominating him. 
Well it kinda feels dumb that they just stop to wait for him to throw the flare.. but then the story is told as much with dialogue as with pictures. Sure, they could have just drawn the fight in silence – ambush, instant step on landmine, instant toss of flare – everything happening in 2 seconds. It would probably be more realistic, but limit the storytelling.
