Man, the mother reminds me, It really is rough for Far Eastern Empires with their marriage rituals. In the West, England, France, Byzantine, the Empress/Queen had power to wield and given responsivities for managing the empire.

In the East the reason you had 20 princes and 30 princesses running around is cause the emperor took 2 or 3 wives, and then 10 consorts.

I really feel for the consorts ESPECIALLY the 2nd to latest consort. The 3 at the top have the emperor’s ear for being the first. The newest consort has power for being new, the 2nd to last has used up her newness.

Would be a very sad life. It can be hard to watch Chinese historical love stories because they never have a happy ending.
