Got to suspend belief that a guy who hated commoners for all of his life and tortured his own cousin for harming the extended family’s reputation would genuinely swear loyalty to MC in exchange for being forgiven. It would be more likely if he thought it would improve his chance of avoiding further punishment if he pretended to be loyal for the time being, or if he thought this would be helpful to himself and his reputation in the long term to be linked to the apprentice of a S rank party, after his current reputation had already dropped to rock bottom.
Oh well, hoping this story doesn’t use the bad guys becomes friends shounen trope too often, but it happened twice already. Probably going to give this guy a sob backstory to explain his behavior.
