i know he needs to be bullied and rejected by the students for the underdog story, but im assuming that healers are the only way to, you know, HEAL? so you would think that you would love to get close to one so you can, i don’t know, survive and not turn into lieutenant dan, a paraplegic who lost his legs.

Wait they have teens handling weapon grade magic without healers in the class / field / learngroup?
They would have the same things to learn.

I feel like skipping how he was outed as a healer is a massive mark against this series and shows that this author knows the story beats they have to hit but either doesn’t care or doesn’t know how to get there. Everyone suddenly bullying him because he’s a healer is really weird. It was never set up as a second class of magic so it’s just the author wanting the MC to have a difficult thing to overcome without building it up as something that people are so disgusted by that they won’t do the job they are paid to do.
