Think of it this way, if this were a game the Climber would be the player aka You. Our MC therefore is the boss at the end of a level.
Now imagine playing a game where you get to the boss fight and half way through the boss just peace-outs on you for an undisclosed amount of time and you gotta just stand and wait for him to come back.
