I think they were trying to match Jerome as an anti-MC where they both mastered a level 1 skill (thrust vs bash) but the difference is Jerome is trapped in the system with near absolute belief in it, vs MC who has “broken free” of the system. Jerome brings doubt to MC, “what if it’s all the system anyway?” but MC doesn’t fall for it.
I get that but Jerome as the almost final enemy kinda falls flat. maybe one more chapter of the fight or better exposition of his background or motivations would’ve felt more “equal”. it’s not bad, 7-8/10.
