The most troublesome point about guns is ammo. In the world full of monsters you will run out of ammo very soon. Global trade and industry has collapsed (at least it looks like it here), so no new ammunition. You have only a bit of time to find replacement. Swords, crossbows, ballistas, etc. Magic.
