I wonder if its again going the oath that the mc absorps power of a dragon
While i liks the trope a bit aspiacily if its not the mcs main power but a power up i dont think its needed here

the dragon seems like a bad idea. the reader knows he’ll beat the dragon, but it might go overboard and kill him and she no longer has access to his stories. she shoulda taken the “i promise to come back” deal.
