Vengeful spirits of some sort, guess her mother’s soul and that of her forbears were trying to protect her from the curse or from possession. Given what they were saying, there must’ve been something screwy happening at the same time as the tower’s construction, so my guess is they’re the souls of those who died during the original hero’s battle against the dragon. Why they hate him and the king who made the tower is an unknown, but I guess I should stop yapping and just see for myself.
