The self-righteous attitude of the Elders is both short-sighted and deeply painful. They call it a noble sacrifice to force their families to flee for their own safety, but they completely ignore the love and worry their family feels for them. It is impossible for a child who loves their parents to just walk away and leave them to face certain death. It is foolish for parents to assume their adult children would ever be okay with that choice. This aligns with a frustrating habit among family elders: withholding crucial information under the assumption that they are doing the right thing, when sharing that information is exactly what is needed to find a solution.
And sadly the part of withholding information is something that families actually do in real life. Excellent job that’s done by the creator to portray that in this chapter.
