The Japanese have a truly strange relationship with their old, cringeworthy heroic poses, costumes, and mannerisms. It’s not that heroes in other countries didn’t have these odd mannerisms too, but there they’re accepted as an embarrassing part of the past, whereas the Japanese celebrate them—which is also kind of embarrassing.
