I see people talking about how AI is already at this point – it’s sort of not. AI struggles to understand things that it hasn’t seen before. It also doesn’t actually understand language, it just flips through its dataset and hopes it chooses the correct word.
For example, I asked chatgpt if “colonialist assimilation” was a word, to which it responded with (summarized,) “yes, but not really generally accepted in formal writing.” I then asked it if “colonial assimilation” was more accepted, and it took a long time to respond, because comparing two things, one of which appears very few times in its dataset, is difficult for the AI.
It will undeniably become better over time, but right now the nature of AI training means that it must live with these defects. Theoretically, if the method of AI training doesn’t change, this will always happen – just because there are some things that just don’t appear in its training dataset.
AI is almost to this level already, it has been getting better very quickly

Extremely original, not sure it will be all that interesting thought since the MC’s life isn’t even directly affected by his decisions.
So this chapter came out 2 years ago, but honestly I think if a game like this came out today… it wouldn’t be considered a miracle at all. With baldurs gate 3, unreal engine 5, and how far chatbots have gotten this would definitely be considered a well made triple A level game, but still just a high standard game. Kinda scary how far we’ve advanced in the past 2 years, for something like an AI reading and responding to your text to become to be considered… normal
