though when I read it last time in the novel my thoughts were:
despite cale’s intention of not getting involved, he is always, and I mean always tempted by the perks nearby. He should have known (albeit maybe he unconsciously ignore it) that since the book mention the perks, like ancient power and stuff, it should be related to the plot i.e. the trouble. so there’s no way he could avoid meeting these problematic characters.😅
