MC should receive consequences for his Behavior else the Story starts to fade

They forgot there was another player in this. They also didn’t realize the other(s) didn’t kill any of the enemies. And because of all that he took an item that has serious side-effects after using it.
Seriously this MC kinda deserves to get beat the hell up after screwing up that bad. Don’t want that, but the only thing saving him in this trap of his own making is going to be plot armor.
