There used to be a pastry shop that you could place orders to pick up, but they would be open to sit down and eat from midnight until 2am. There was never a set selection of what they would have available, it was just whatever they decided to make for that night. Reading this makes me think of that place, and how I used to think about how much fun it would be to run a place like that.

Sadly the woman who ran it got hurt and they ceased the night time seating, and after a few years the place closed because her injuries had made it too difficult for her to work.

Why not just tell someone from the beginning that they will be serving ghosts that way they aren’t blindsided by it later on

I don’t blame the other intern. He actually wants the job but the other guy clearly doesn’t take it as seriously. It’s easy to see why he’s frustrated.
