peasants shouldnt be trying to learn how to wield a sword. Swords were expensive, because they require good craftmenship knowledge and resources. Spears on the other hand were cheap af, and its very to learn to use them to a decent level, so they were a common weapon for that reason as well on the battlefields. On top of that it’s a superior weapon against the sword unless if its a longsword or a nodachi that nullifies the spear’s reach advantage.

I never thought watching plants grow could be this emotional
