this is stupid. MC is dumb not finishing him off – he already had enough info from the previous encounter and yet he still takes it easy, acting all superior then suddenly “I used up almost all my mana blocking that attack!” yeah cause you left the disabled lady unprotected, dumbass.

Too much plot armor on both sides for my tastes. Enemy is losing “oh, this ability that should kill you that I haven’t used because… reasons”. Then the MC is losing and it’s the same shit, using an ability that we weren’t told about because… reasons again.
Lazy storytelling, almost as bad as those stories where the main character uses new abilities once, right after getting them, then goes right back to their stock abilities, even when the new abilities could save them trouble over and over again, just because the author can’t be bothered to keep track of the twenty seven unique items they created for them.
