(Continuation of my previous post..)
Historically it went like this. For the benefit of those confused. From lowest to highest.
Knight (no lands given out to a knight from the king, and only title that isn’t inherited)
Baron – inherited title and land
Viscount – inherited title and land
Count – inherited title and land
Earl – inherited title and land
Marquess or Margrave – inherited title and land
Duke – inherited title and land. A very powerful count you could say. Normally is of a royal blood line but isn’t the king. So for instance, the kings brother, or nephew or cousin, or a descendant of one of these.
The actual immediate royal family
So if you get isekai’d (and get to choose) then my recommendation is to choose something as low down in the list as possible. But if that fails, then either sleep or fight your way to the top!

MC is a duke, and runs a duchy. But sometimes he’s called a baron, running a barony. Is this just a bad translation of noble ranks?
And in this and previous chapters they make it seem like he’s lower in rank than the (other?) dukes. He’s definitely been defined as duke AND a rank less than a duke several times before.
It’s quite confusing..

Tbh I’m disappointed in his sister for suggesting multiple wives.
