So the gods are aliens, now we are entering peak fiction territory 
. Time for a theory drop, The “gods” created this perpetual cycle of war to keep humans from developing and challenging them again by plunging them into a repeating middle age era, while the demonic and holy powers are genetic modifications that trigger both the humans and demons to act a certain way if they meet thus our main character is a genetic anomaly.
