Gunna have to drop this. I got pretty far, but I feel it’s got less and less interesting. I am far more interested in seeing Yuuske develop his powers further, when he enchants gear, I want to see a list of the effects and how he did it. I feel like there’s not much character development, either. Sun has had the most, but apart from her, there’s the two lasses that went to live in the village and that’s about it. I feel the characters are too static.
They introduce them and sometimes you don’t even notice at first, it’s like the characters exist as a plot device. Typically, a plot with this story would focus on a small group and see them through adventures, but it’s like the plot overshadowes them entirely and there’s nothing to get attached to.
The best use of Yuuske powers were during the war with Bluegarden, and the best showcase of his powers was when he built the huge tower at the start. Now, all he has going on is trying to make a car (taking wayyyy too long), and that board travel thing too.
He can customize ANYTHING, yet it’s almost like his powers are way too limited despite what he can do. Supposedly he can’t simply ‘make’ an engine and needs that guy to do it. What about that tower he made? He mentioned the city being a stack and being able to use anything in it at will. To build a tower like that with stairs, you need architectural knowledge, but he built it in a flash anyway. There’ll be plenty of iron in the city, so why can’t he use that to make an engine?
Also, him using raining bricks to kill those enemies was cool as well, but it’s got so stale. At first, he used his powers in cool ways and was improving, not to mention how he could make a simple strength ring so powerful the Sun overpowered a man twice her size! If the materials cannot handle more than one or two enhancements, why doesn’t he wear a ring for every finger, as well as wrist bands and more? He said at one point his equipment has plenty of enchantments, when did he do that? What are they? Why didn’t we see it?
I feel like the author had a clear image in mind when starting this, but lost sight and had no idea what to focus on. I could rant forever about my complaints with this manga.
