I read the comment below, and I don’t think shes that harsh to them in the manga at least. Don’t know about the anime but here the slapping thing is obviously a joke and in the last image we see her scolding them just like a normal mother.

Been watching the anime, the only family she shows kindness to is Tatz. Everyone else desperately wants hugs and she just beats them up and then ignores them.
I think it’s meant to be funny but it’s just sad because they’re so desperate and she doesn’t even go back after to dote on them a little.
