Keep in mind that no one dies here, the Archmage either just had a bout of critically lacking in reading comprehension, or simply was understandably pissed over having one of his favourite students experience dying when he was nearby but not close enough to help.
Given that he started talking stuff like “I hope I meet you someday once again” at the end, I bet it is the lack of reading comprehension. Which is fair, you usually don’t get to the Archmage level of competency without being a little autistically scatterbrained. Then again, he might just be not sure about death not being final in this realm, it is his first time, after all.
He can probably bluff about being the strongest now.
All that and the mc character killed him anyway cant believe this
now the fox hunt shall begin !

He should have shot him while he was monologing. I don’t know if I will follow this, if the MC is so dumb and skittish. Very underwhelming.
