My theory so far: I think in one of the earlier chapters, the smile monster that netti saw was actually Betti being transformed into the Smile Bad Enging which is why it was last heard saying “ne-tt”. I say this because the bosses are named Bad Endings potentially signifying that they are angels who got the “Bad Ending” (by either eating the fruit or being transformed in an experiment). White Flame is definitely the bad guy because somehow he showed up to protect them and then still let the smile monster go which attacks the village right after with other bad endings. Also netti is scared of him so that’s probably foreshadowing
