I get this dude is strong and tough and large. But MC is a karate master right? Martial arts were literally developed to go against brute force.

Some commenters below really a fight ‘expert’. Seriously, it’s a different depth perception when facing opponent in first-person view against third-person view, and thus different judgment and reaction time. And don’t forget, weight class DOES matter.
If he used the dagger, only a Lethal Thrust would do any meaningful damage. But a thrust of that caliber requires commitment and would immediately get him punished severely. Although it’s weird that he didn’t try to slash him, I digress. Keep in mind this Walrus is Stupidly Fast; I highly doubt he could have landed a good thrust regardless.

Couldn’t he have shredded his fist by now. He’s technical enough to immediately grasp the distance and the fatso doesn’t mind wildly swinging his arms forward.
Just holding his knife in the trajectory of the punch is all he would need to do to chip away at the guy’s fighting capabilities until an opening presents itself.
Hmm it feels like it would’ve made more sense for him to lean into the charge and shank him in the heart or neck. Im guessing the authors excuse would be there is too much fat protecting him. Let’s see what happens.

I have a dagger, I know it works as I stabbed him once, well let’s try a headbutt first, I mean I am master in karate but the first thing in my mind is to expose my head forward (btw it’s clear that it was unintentional as he got hit by the enemy belly).
