The belt restore thing is a major plot whole. He can restore walls, hair, age, a spilled ooze vial, peoples skill trees, and armor that has been repaired with other materials. A belt that has been stretched should be no issue. I think he just needed to have an item that needs replaced for the story. I am guessing she will buy him a replacement as a gift.
