I still don’t understand the bridge.
Ok, that adventurer group had limited resources, so they only could build it like they did.
But! Wood works in river. They even let it soak to get a special and hard kind of wood. And so does the mounts.
So, before Mr. corrupt and insane had a say, a bridge could have been built and maintained by the guild, no problem. But it never has been done.
That wood gets harder and magical was said in chapters prior. And at the beginning of this arch it was also stated the impossibility to cross the river, due to boats and bridges not working.

what benefit ? what the purpose ? i said bridge to upstream, but upstream already occupied, so even with bridge , confilict is inevitable, so why not just duke it out without bridge?
