Why does MC deserve regressing for the most basic regrets in life. I think some authors are just copying the format without giving basic thought.
Regressing is justifiable if the MC has reached the last fight of an apocalyptic event, sole sacrificial fighter of some powerful organization or the last survivor of Demon lord fight etc.. because he is capable to turn things around on the next iteration of his old life.
But this MC is weak and whiny over the most basic regrets [average humans have same regrets over past mistakes] and him getting a regression implies that people can only improve their lives by regressing back not work hard and change life.
