I always did hate this trope. Take OP girls, nerf them into idiots, and use them for the damsel in distress situation. The dwarf, even if not trained to fight, is undoubtedly stronger than normal Japanese humans, and let’s not even talk about the mage trained as a hero to fight demons.
The author could have just had them track other captured girls and save them.
