Even though the “mediocre mc by luck turns op and everyone now likes him” cliche is so overused in the industry nowadays, no other series has had me so invested as this one. Despite such a boring premise, there’s so many other factors that define a story and the author is so aware of that fact. Even though it’s just a silly manhwa about a vr game, reading this on my phone even on the toilet has me more immersed than any thousand dollar headset could. Despite how some scenes are so emotional I’d need a mop for how many years I’m shedding, how much crazy bs goes on in-game considering it’s about a naked dude with a +99 stick, how serious the plot tries to be sometimes, or the crazy memey hyper realistic face expressions that contrast the the most unrealistic and attractive characters being on screen, in the end this really is a series about people being people. From child actors corrupted by the industry with abusive parents to a young girl who loves everyone despite her fatal chronic illness, and even just an average dude feeling aimless in life, through chrono life we get to see them goofing around smiling from ear to ear (sometimes literally, with is rather creepy.. but that aside), like the utopia we wish everyone in real life could experience if real life wasn’t the way it is. If anybody ever asks me for a fun manhwa to read, this one is at the top of my recommendation list, top tier art with very self aware story that knows exactly when to be funny and when to be serious with the readers heart sometimes completely wrapped around their fingers in order to drive it’s scenes home.
Rant (and how many times I use the word despite) aside, and despite how much I really loathe the cockroach now, I’m looking forward to finding her actual backstory, literally against the laws of physics for this author to have bad writing and all the backstories so far have been delivered in top tier shape.
