Honestly, I kinda pity the childhood friend. She spent years looking after MC, years of MC being unable to fight despite everything she did to try tot help. Then they’re separated for what? A few months? Less even, and he has a hot new girlfriend and is suddenly not only able and willing to fight, but is a badass fighter. Yea he arrived to save her, but this still must be heart shattering
I think the happiest solution for everyone is if the start dating and adventuring as a trio
