Maybe he was fumble in that past and that affected his mental.

Why is the MC such a self deprecating person? I don’t think anyone has treated him badly.

Whether you win or not, demoted. Or executed? He is there at a direct decree of the king after all. At least, normally. Soldiers or knight challenging their superiors, even if you win in the end, can’t have that kind of insubordinate solder/knight around after all.

I think Beryl’s father was in on Aleucia’s plan. I mean with the whole “don’t come back without a wife” part. Really helps in her goals. But again each chapter has to have one cool moment, and this one’s that phantom battle. Over before it even began.
The update for this series is so slow, but really is a great series. Maybe the exposition chapters will be done within 5 years….

I LOVE people that try to give the “Hard Stare”, lol. I just open my eyes, wide as I can, and stare back. Without blinking. Until their eyeballs dry out, to the point of needing a car wash full of Visine to recover. If that doesn’t work, slowly, ever so S L O W L Y cross your eyes, and then roll them back into your skull. That always does the job.
