Tbh once the author went with the whole ‘talented learners & geniuses part’ I just kinda zoned out. I assume he used Henry Ford and Tesla as inspiration, but it’s kind of a baseless assumption. And postulating on the ‘mutations’ leading to evolution is also kind of insipid – there’s a reason why so many fossil types of the same kind get found in specific carbon dating ranges and it’s possible that an entire species shows the same ‘mutations’ across individuals in response to some environmental stimuli. The whole ‘ego growth’ thing was cool until Yoichi essentially had to suspend his ego completely in the final game, ‘becoming a machine’ in order to win. Basically, once it went beyond sports psychology, it became kindy mushy imop.
